Besides having worked with Huck in the Arch lab at the UofA, I shared a special bond with him and his lovely wife, Lisa; their dog, Kana'a, was sister to my two dogs, Moki and Yah ta'eh. They were brought back from the Rez one winter as puppies, having been abandoned in the snow. I'm sure those Rez dogs thanked their lucky stars daily after being rescued by such considerate bil'ganas. Huck was one of a kind--we shall not see his like again.
Great tribute. Makes me wish I could take a class from Bruce or YOU for that matter. Luckily I get a little bit of teaching from you every time I read your substack.
We need faith and reason. Science and the arts. Liberal education. And why those tearing it down are hell bent to destroy history so the masses can only sing songs and tell stories of dispare. Bruce and all those dedicated to the never ending quest for greater truth and more honest stories about who we are provide the remedy. Keep telling the stories we need to tell Bob. Keep inviting others to the stage to tell their stories.

Thank you, Bob. And for the record, I did give Lisa a hug for you.
Great article Bob.
As I head down the road of age, I ponder all the roads I have traveled.

Love the Highway Man song. Wonderful remembrance of your friend.
What a gorgeous tribute, and those videos!
Beautiful tribute to your friend. Whenever I read something you have written, I am better for it.
You are so kind. Thank you.
That's a lovely tribute to your friend, Bob. If I had such an encomium, I would die happy. If that's the way it works.
What a wonderful tribute to someone I never knew or heard of before reading this. May we all be so positively contributory to the world as he was.
A great tribute. Sorry for your loss.

Anthropologists and Archeologists. As Kurt Vonnegut Jr says, "You are fast Realizers." Add Journalist and you become Prophets.
I wish!
A great remembrance.
This is a lovely remembrance to your friend. Everyone should be so blessed as to have such a friend.
Good read Bob
Beautiful tribute! And a shout out to some of my favorite musicians.
