While in junior and senior high school I had a great education in Iowa civics that apparently Rep. Nordman did not. No, city councils do not fund the libraries. The taxpayers, the citizens, the users of the libraries fund these precious resources.
Each day i am flummoxed by the march towards authoritarianism that has overtaken our country. People blatantly steering us away from our democratic foundation. I have hope, like you, that citizens are waking up to this dangerous situation.
Thank you for taking us inside the room with you, Bob. This behavior on the part of republican legislators is appalling - again, still. They don’t seem to understand that voters will have the last word on all of this, not them.
Thanks for another reminder of how fragile our democracy is. Going after libraries which provide so many ways to keep us informed is a very serious move toward facism . I'm quite sure that most of these legislators are as ignorant of how this would affect their lives as well as those they seek to control.
Democratic principles are what this country was founded on. Running away from these anchor stones of our Republic, has been gradual; under mined for years both in the courts and in the legislature. Both parties have ventured into the arena of money over people, and now we have to depend on the legislature to bet on the people, over money to pull us back from the brink of a facist takeover. Our last hope is the polls, to eliminate these mindless cogs who thoughtlessly are moved by corporate sponsors over living breathing people.

I heard Carter Nordman in person for the first time in Jefferson on Saturday. You are spot on in your description of him as “arrogant”.

I am opposed to this legislation. It is absolutely a violation of our free right to read and control our own choice's.
