I signed. Thank you, Bob, for this information. I also appreciate how you separate the Christian folks from the "Christian" people. They could not be more opposite.

Thanks Connie. And thanks for your work too! Yes, I always keep them separate even if it redundant from column to column. And you are correct. I don't see anything Christian about the "Christians."

If you are interested in learning more of the substance and procedures regarding ethics complaints, see Iowa House Ethics HR 7. There are sections on economic interests and conflict of interest. I served on the Ethics Committees in both chambers, including during two of the more visible controversies (Mingo and Iowa Trust). The latter case did not result in any dramatic vote on the senator in question. The controversy and public involvement helped change some of the laws on gifts. Regarding the case at hand, the bi-partisan ethics committee will decide on how to proceed. However, even if the case is dismissed, constituents or political opponents can insist on greater transparency and accountability from this Representative

Thank you again for bringing forth an important issue. I do appreciate you separating us Christians. It is a shame that so many republicans in office seem to have their priorities focused on issues that don’t always reflect that of their constituents and those of a lot of other republicans. Power is a dangerous thing!

Carrie Koelker is the Iowa State Senator from the 33rd District, all her kids go to private schools, so voting for vouchers would be an ethics violation too wouldn't it?

To you and I, for sure. We'll see if CCI gets any traction on this. Could be interesting. This post has spread far and wide. Thanks for reading!

I have been a fan of ICCI and the work they continue to do--they show up. I'll send an additional donation their way! The manner in which the voucher program was set up seems to allow for corruption and no transparency.
