Why doesn’t Sage mention anything about civil rights for females, people of color, LGBTQIA+ on his site? His campaign is not addressing >60% of Iowa voters. He should tell us in writing before we donate. There will be other Democratic candidates in this race. He has no political history for us to gauge his intentions. We must avoid another Sinema, Manchin, Fetterman. Does Sage believe in the separation of church & state? Would he vote against the SAVE act? Does he believe the ERA should be enforced? Will he fight against anti-Black racism? Should girls be forced to carry their rapists’ child? Will he fight to save contraceptive access, gay marriage & no fault divorce?

I believe that who you love or how you identify is your business—not the government's. What happens in your home, heart, or identity does not concern a politician in Washington.

We are all human beings. We all deserve the same rights—no exceptions. It is your freedom to live as your true self, and I will always stand with you in that fight.

How convinced am I about the need to elect Nathan Sage as our next United States Senator? Nobody’s asked me, and don’t expect to be anytime soon. But, I’ve never needed a reason for voicing my opinions, especially about issues concerning the wellbeing of the city, county, state, neighborhood and country, where I’ve lived during this lifetime. You can ask anyone who knows me, or about me, and am confident they’d concur.

The Constitutional crisis we face is disgraceful. So too, is the ruthless arrogance and abuse of office exhibited by those holding the most powerful positions of government. The hateful, divisive, corrupt and purposely harmful laws and the contemptible conduct by representatives and officials we Iowans have elected, confounds and disgusts the senses. At least it does mine and I’ve lived through some doozies. It’s been said, “if you hire clowns, expect a circus,” and that’s certainly been true here.

As a widowed septuagenarian, living on Social Security Disability and my late wife’s pension, there’s certainly economic interests to consider. However, I’ve reached a stage of my life where dignity, honor, respect for others and our legacy of civil rights and liberty, supersedes the frequent selfish tendencies which still remain. Don’t misunderstand, you’ll never make a saint of me, and my years are littered with more mistakes than most.

The blatant and callous disregard for our air, land and water quality is disgraceful. Our treatment of the most vulnerable people amongst us; concerning the homeless, hungry, mentally challenged, racially, ethnically, gender fluid or otherwise marginalized and abused, is horrific, we’re guilty of cruelty and neglect. There can be no doubt about this and no worthy justification, explanation or excuse. Period.

Malfeasance has become commonplace in our political system. We need sweeping changes to the way we evaluate our lives and elected officials. These changes must begin with our current leadership. Electing Nathan Sage to replace a floundering Joni Ernst, will be a major improvement and decisive step forward for rebuilding our country. He represents all the best qualities found in good governance and great people. I challenge everyone reading this to examine his remarkable life and career achievements. You’ll not find him wanting in the standards of character we set for leadership.

We will need many more changes in the people who currently hold office. Make no mistake, most are representing not us, but the interests of those who fund them and their quest for power, greater office, wealth and ideological supremacy. It’s past time for all of us to be united against the hypocritical, hyper-partisan, false moralist, demagogues who’ve overstepped their boundaries and overturned our ideals.

Electing Nathan Sage is the first step.

Always something to help me realize that people are paying attention to how to escape the pending autocracy and keep our democracy. I hope to live long enough to say goodbye to Joni Ernst.
