This is a very interesting collaboration, and it reminds me of much of what Sherman Alexie has been writing about on his Substack. Nothing is ever either/or when it comes to colonialism, it seems. Though we seem to prefer either William Bradford's Thanksgiving myth or the 1619 Project.

Robert,

I am looking for the Peter Hanley / Henley paper Mary refers to in the interview. Is it available online?

Great interview, thank you.

The consistent Sunday morning ping at 4 am let’s me know that you are posting another article/interview, Bob. I usually wait until a little later in the morning to read what you have to say. This morning’s post listening to the remarkable Mary Swander is another excellent example of you nudging me forward. I was privileged to be on Mary’s memoir class and have been inspired by her for years. As I listened to your interview I am recommitted to helping bring her play to southwest iowa. Several of us have been talking about bringing it to our community but I think we need to think larger and set up a tour that will cover several communities. Thank you for the inspiration on this Sunday morning in May.
