So much chaos and cruelty as a result of this. I'm on the board of a state environmental education organization in Kansas, and despite the executive order being rescinded, with the continuing chaos and unknowns, staff is struggling to determine how many of the programs we manage w/ federal dollars can continue, and at what level. And we had to place a pause on the raises our board approved last week for staff. One small drop in the bucket of chaos and cruelty deliberately caused by the Trump admin and MAGA GOP.
Thanks for sharing this Marcel. The chaos didn't go away. And the chaos is the point. It's important we keep sharing what this chaos means to regular people doing the work of being an American. The costs of Republicans' efforts to "save money" will cost America multiple times what they will claim to have saved. It's not just government that will weaken, America as a whole is weakening because of this.
Completely agree. The chaos, confusion, despair, and fatigue are exactly the point. Our psychologies aren't evolutionarily designed to take in, process, and react to this firehose of "badness." Things will slip through under the radar, some aspects of orders will eventually make it through after being challenged, Americans will tune too many things out, further coalescing Trump's power. It's going to take us all working together, dividing out the work, stepping up when others need a break, etc.
How do we respond to the rapidly spreading hate and violent rhetoric that is flourishing in America? Are we no longer the best hope for those who seek something better?
Have we lost our sense of genuine interest as a beacon of hope for the least —those the world readily, willingly, and easily casts aside —e.g. no longer believing transgender patriots can serve & defend the country they love as equally as those we call normal?
America seems paralyzed —unable / unwilling to develop and implement comprehensive plans to help the least among us so as to better protect all us.
America —quickly transforming into a box of instant pudding; valuing only what is quick & easy; and if we don’t like it . . .throw it out! We have no interest or willingness to invest in the hard and tedious work necessary to take what is good and forge it into something that is better / best for everyone.
America, serving herself —1st . . . a beacon for extreme nationalism, hate & violence? Who knows, perhaps we’re already there.
Jeff, your analysis is accurate. I encourage you to keep sharing what you see. I am also hopeful that the work is beginning to build a team from the ground up to redirect the political winds in America. Your voice and insights are important. https://mattrussellcrf.substack.com/p/cow-tipping-is-real
Thanks for reminding us of the importance of letting our elected officials know even though it is discouraging to think about how far Iowa has slipped from being a welcoming state.
This is really important. The T administration very likely will try to implement these changes, only more slowly. We have to keep fighting. Thanks for your wise words.

I wish I had the answer Linda, but will continue to be kind and resist hatred.
