What a perfect description: "weaponized feel-good rhetoric for ignorant, arrogant or uncaring white people." I keep asking what explains the people who are totally supportive of what Trump is doing to our county. Is it failure of civics eduction? Failure of parenting? A true personality disorder? Cognitive incapability? Or, must we concede that many of these people are simply evil? Irredeemably, non-rehabilitatably evil people? One cannot support all Trump is doing and be a good person. There is something inherently wrong with someone who would so destroy our society and terminate everything that has been good and successful. Excuses, but no justification.

Trump's Secretary of Agriculture's bull shit tour is still trying to sell the garbage that during Trump's previous term he created boat loads of jobs. Trump lost more jobs than any modern president, and that collapse started well before he mishandled COVID. Due to Trump's tariffs, farmers were on welfare--that didn't stop them from complaining about some poor kid getting a school lunch or voting for Trump to do it all over again. So here we are. More tariffs and the farm economy is tanking again--this time with the added bonus of collapse of the stock market. More welfare for farmers. Not sure running the federal government like a business is such a great idea, but if we are going to do that, did we have to pick someone who filed bankruptcy 8 times?

This time the damage to the farm economy and the economy as a whole is going to be permanent. Lots of these markets for agricultural products that took decades to establish are not coming back. Turns out they know how to produce pork and grain in South America too and the countries of the world who we once counted as friends, who now hate us, are perfectly willing to spend their money elsewhere. Iowa farm products are the Tesla of agriculture. So, of course, the most pressing issue for the Secretary of Agriculture would be tomato seeds with something about equality printed on them, because we all know that the Trump administration is all about finding the most qualified people. Now if they would just stop publicly calling each other morons while the economy tanks. We already know that. Don't remind us.
